Sharpening possibility into opportunity

Alexandra Scotland Projects is an independent artist liaison consultancy centered on career development, institutional relationships, and the business infrastructure behind successful creative practices. The consultancy serves artists and cultural organizations navigating the increasingly complex relationships and opportunities that shape contemporary art careers.

The consultancy is grounded in Alexandra’s senior experience as Studio Director of Nina Chanel Abney Studio; Director of Artist Relations at Jack Shainman Gallery; Director at Rachel Uffner Gallery; Managing Director at Greene Naftali Gallery; and Studio Manager for Wangechi Mutu. Alexandra helps artists identify and pursue the right opportunities, cultivate meaningful relationships, navigate negotiations, and manage the complex professional demands that accompany a growing practice.

Our strongest differentiator is the ability to understand the art world from every side of the table. The role is not simply to manage the relationships, but to steward the complex professional processes that follow. Each engagement is shaped around the artist, project, or organization, whether that means navigating a complex opportunity, developing a collaboration, or helping define what comes next. We turn ambitious ideas into action.

Founder’s Statement

Alexandra Scotland Projects was founded on a belief in the power of creative agency: that meaningful opportunities are cultivated through curiosity, persistence, relationships, and purposeful action.

Inspired by Zora Neale Hurston’s words, “I do not weep at the world—I am too busy sharpening my oyster knife,” the consultancy is grounded in resourcefulness, discernment, and a commitment to creating possibilities.

Throughout my career, I have worked across artist studios and galleries, building relationships between artists and the people and institutions that shape their careers. I have seen firsthand how creative vision can be amplified by thoughtful strategy, strong advocacy, and meaningful partnerships.

Alexandra Scotland Projects brings my varied experiences together. I work with artists, galleries, curators, museums, nonprofits, collectors, and creative partners to develop opportunities, cultivate relationships, navigate complex projects, and move ambitious ideas from possibility to realization.

For artists, this can mean career strategy, serving as a senior institutional and gallery liaison, opportunity development, negotiations, and project and support bringing complex initiatives to life.

My approach is collaborative, relationship-driven, and highly individual. I believe artists deserve informed advocacy and the freedom to build meaningful careers on their own terms. The strongest creative work emerges when vision is supported by strategy and action.

Alexandra Scotland Projects is committed to building the relationships, strategies, and opportunities that make what comes next possible.
